It is well known that when Mahindra and Mahindra opened a booking window for the second round of bookings things went even better than they did the first time around. Having received 25,000 bookings for its best seller Mahindra wants to make sure that all the prospective customers will stay with Mahindra. It is therefore enhancing production capacity of the XUV 500 to 5,000 units a month. Mahindra is aware that the launch of the Tata Safari Storme is around the corner and that Tata has not increased the cut price of the Aria. Mahindra is in a confident mood and it seems to believe that it can retain all customers who have booked the XUV500. There are also reports that Mahindra will launch a low cost SUV during Deepavali of this year. It remains to be seen if this is the shortened version of the Xylo or if it is a beefed up Bolero.
