Tom Sykes who almost lost his Kawasaki ride for this year in World Superbikes has said that the new ZX-10R was improving with every race. He had a strong weekend at the last race at the Miller Sports park in the USA where he finished 6th in one of the races, the best result for Kawasaki thus far this season. Tom Sykes was almost out of the Kawasaki Team but the British rider’s career was saved by Paul Bird, the man behind Paul Bird Racing which actually takes care of Kawasaki’s factory effort in Superbike racing. This move proved good because Chris Vermeulen who was to spearhead Kawasaki’s attack has still not recovered from his knee injury sustained last year and has barely participated in any races so far. Joan Lascorz who was promoted from World Supersport is still coming to grips with the ZX-10R often crashing and doing well occasionally. Therefore it has been up to Tom Sykes to do most of the challenging, which he seems to have done quite well so far.
