Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4

Not really. The GL-Class is a fantastic beast and we ask you to excuse our over enthusiasm, but don’t you want to floor a really tall panel van powered by a six cylinder 440Nm diesel engine in the snow? We do!

High in the Tyrolean Alps at an elevation of 2500 metres, Mercedes-Benz Vans unveiled the new Sprinter 4×4. In addition to the previously mentioned six cylinder unit there’s also two variations of the four cylinder unit. When the All Wheel Drive is engaged by pushing a button, an electric motor engages the gears in the transfer case and torque is distributed in a 35:65 ratio between the front and rear axles. Adaptive ESP is active even when Mercedes’ 4ETS all wheel drive system is engaged. There’s also a low range reduction gear, that reduces gearing by a factor of 1.42 for improved torque, is available as an option.

The Sprinter 4×4 also has a higher ground clearance, as the body is lifted by 110 mm at the front and by 80 mm at the rear. The Sprinter 4×4 is also one of the safest vans in the world boasting of features like Collision Prevention Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Highbeam Assist and Lane Keeping Assist. Mercedes-Benz says Crosswind Assist will follow in 2014.
