r. Eberhard Kern, MD& CEO Mercedez Benz India at the launch of new E-Class

Following its global debut at the Detroit Motor Show on 14th January 2013, the new E-Class has reached our shores already! The most striking difference is up front with the new headlamps. The dual unit headlamps have been replaced with an integrated unit that has flowing elements which lend to a modern design. The headlamps are full LED units, a first for the E-Class.

The grille is available with the three point star on top or with the three pointed star integrated in the grille, again a first for the E-Class.

Towards the rear the ‘pontoon’ inspired design of the fenders have given way for a more plain surface. The E63 AMG looks to be the most phenomenal sibling, but India will have to wait a while longer the launch.

The new E-Class is available as the E 250 CDI diesel equipped with a 2143cc V4 engine making 500 Nm @ 1600-1800 rpm and a rated output of 150 Kw @ 4200 rpm or as the E 200 CGI petrol with the 1991cc engine making 300 Nm of torque at 1200-4000 rpm and 135 kW @ 5500 rpm. At 7.5 seconds, the diesel is quicker to the 0-100kph by 0.4 seconds than the petrol and more efficient, of course.

The new E 200 CGI (Petrol) is Rs. 41.50 lakh and E 250 CDI Avantgarde (Diesel) is Rs 44.48 lakh. There are also 100 units of limited edition of E 250 CDI priced at Rs 49.90 lakh. All Prices are ex-Showroom Delhi.
