BHPian Karan561 spotted the new Octavia testing on the Mumbai-Pune expressway.
It has been a long time since a Skoda in India has been so desirable based on just looks.
The new Skoda Octavia especially in this white shade with the black roof has left us with wobbly knees. The Octavia has grown by 108mm between wheels to accommodate its younger sibling the Rapid in the market. This has led to an increase of 47mm in knee room at the rear and headroom stands at 980mm. The boot at 590 litres is dangerously close to that of the Skoda Superb!
Powertrain options for the new Octavia include the 1.8 TSI with 177 bhp as well four diesel engines including the base 1.6 TDI that powers the Greenline version of the Octavia and enables fuel efficiency figures of 3.4 litres of diesel per 100 km. India is expected to get the 2.0 L diesel in two states of tune. In addition to the 1.8 TSI, the 1.4 TSI is expected to power the base petrol variant. Skoda has also announced that it has plans for a natural gas variant for Europe. It would be a shame if Skoda doesn’t bring in the natural gas variant and the Greenline 1.6 L diesel to India.
Manual and automatic DSG transmissions are available, with all-wheel-drive versions in the near future. India might not really see the four wheel drive variants, but enthusiasts fret not, the ŠKODA Octavia RS powered by a 200 bhp petrol is definitely on the cards.
The new Skoda Ocatvia was also spotted in Bangalore by BHPian Mtnrajdeep in the red shade.
Finally, there’s this not so clear image from Autocar India.
