Jorge Lorenzo clinically plowed through the track lap after lap consistently increasing or maintaining the gap leaving no chance for a battle for first. The battle for second though, was very much alive, with the long awaited duel on track between Casey Stoner on the Honda and Valentino Rossi on the Ducati finally materializing. The Ducati GP 12 was very much in its element in the treacherous conditions and Rossi climbed up the grid rapidly, culminating in a final fistfight with Stoner in which Rossi turned out the victor. Stoner had to contend with third. Pedrosa who started on pole managed to finish fourth. German Stefan Bradl had a good race and finished behind Pedrosa.
Tech 3 Yamaha Riders provided the usual entertainment by staying on each others tails but both riders crashed out in two different instances and Dovizioso managed to finish seventh, just ahead of Crutchlow. Nicky Hayden finished sixth, Hector Barbera and Bautista complete the top ten list. James Ellison riding for Paul Bird Motorsport in the ART machine was the first of the CRT teams, managing a 11th position finish.
