Renault Pulse Review 05

Renault India has quietly launched the petrol variant of the Pulse powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder 79bhp motor mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

Prices stand as

RXE: Rs. 4.25 lakhs

RXL: Rs. 4.99 lakhs

RXZ: Rs. 5.55 lakhs

All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi

Unlike the diesel variant which was available only in two variants, the RxL and the top end RxZ, Renault has introduced a more stripped down variant – the RxE – for the petrol Pulse.

Renault Pulse Reviewed : French Aggression?

The RxE loses the power windows, the entertainment system, the remote locking ( and related safety features like the speed sensing auto door lock), the 12V power outlet, the tachometer, rear wiper, and stakes claim firmly to being the ‘base variant’.

The RxL gets all that’s missing in the RxE, but misses out on the frills that make living with the Pulse easy.Surprisingly though, the disel RxL gets the boot lamp, electrically adjustable ORVMs, rear defoggers, all of which are missing on the Petrol RXL.

The top end RxZ gets all the bells and whistles, including the Smart Access Key, Engine Start/Stop button, electrically adjustable and auto folding ORVMs, lots of chrome, leather on the steering wheel and gear knob and so on.

Passenger airbag is available only on the RxZ variant, as is the ABS/EBD. Well, that’s the petrol. ABS isn’t available even on the top end diesel RxZ which was one of the gripes we had with the Pulse.
