Mercedes-Benz will launch the stylish new M-class on 15th May at an ex-showroom, Mumbai price of around Rs 69 lakh reports Autocar India.

The five seater will count on its stunning looks, and class leading mileage to lure customers. The new generation M-Class engines have been downsized, turbocharged to offer more power and better fuel consumption. Using the new tool called ‘energy transparent vehicle’ various components of the M-Class have been optimized to offer the best possible mileage. The ML 250 BlueTEC 4MATIC powered by Mercedes-Benz’s new 2.2L four cylinder diesel engine makes 204hp and can travel 1170 kilometers on a 70 litre single tank! With the optional 93 litre tank, you can travel 1500 km before refueling.

Alas, this sought after engine might not make it to India initially. Overdrive reports that this engine requires diesel cleaner than available in India.

The most probable engine would be the 258 horsepower 3.0L V6 that will power the ML 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC. Fuel efficiency hovers around 14.7 kpl in the New European Driving Cycle. Top speed of 224 kph and 0-100 kph in 7.4 seconds figures have been claimed.

There is also the 3.5L BlueEFFICIENCY V6 petrol engine that makes 306 horsepower which may never see the light in India.

All these engine options have been mentioned counting on the fact that Mercedes-Benz WILL offer the latest generation engines.

The steel suspension of the M-Class chassis now includes selective damping. Active roll stabilisation in the form of the ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM can be combined as on option with AIRMATIC air suspension with Adaptive Damping System (ADS) as well as with the ON&OFFROAD package.

If the ON&OFFROAD package is made available in India, you also get an underride guard, a two-stage transfer case with reduction gear, a longitudinal differential lock and enhanced AIRMATIC functionality that allows a maximum ground clearance of 285 millimetres and a fording depth of 600 millimetres in addition to six transmission programmes modes different terrains.
