The Hero R&D team, which has for long lived in the shadows, now emerges stronger and more visible. Hero demonstrated its hybrid scooter the ‘Leap’, and it does seem to be good looking.
Unveiling the scooter on the 6th of January at the Auto Expo 2012, Mr. Pawan Munjal, MD & CEO, Hero MotoCorp said “As its name signifies, the ‘Leap’ is indeed a leap in terms of advanced technology not just for us but also for the Indian two-wheeler industry in general. For us, it is indeed a ‘Leap’ into future in terms of our ability to bring tecnologically superior products in keeping with international standards. Although is currently at a concept stage, we intend to take it forward to be able to produce it commercially in the near future.”
With the Leap, Hero MotoCorp has already applied for three international technology patents and nine international design registrations.
Hero MotoCorp has been strengthening its R&D setup at Gurgaon and Dharuhera plants by investing in new talent as well as infrastructure. The Leap is a result of a team from its R&D working with a few international design consultants.
