PACCAR had on display the DAF CF premium truck at the 11th Auto Expo. PACCAR manufactures the popular Peterbilt and Kenworth brand of trucks in North America and is only next to the Daimler’s Freightliner brand of trucks in terms of market share. DAF Trucks NV is the Dutch unit of the PACCAR company. DAF is the leading on-highway tractor manufacturer in Europe.
The CF on display has a PACCAR PX-6 180-horsepower engine and an Asia MotorWorks (AMW) tipper body. The versatile CF is designed for tractor and vocational configurations. We understand that the ‘Tractor’ configuration is essentially the trucks that carry containers, better known as trailer trucks to us enthusiasts in India and ‘Vocational’ configuration would be trucks built for specific applications, such as a dump truck or a cement mixer.
DAF trucks are sold and serviced by a network of over 1,000 independent dealer locations worldwide. “DAF vehicles are successful due to their excellent reliability, efficiency and high standard of driver comfort,” commented Don Schulte, managing director PACCAR in India. “The AutoExpo 2012 offers PACCAR the opportunity to meet with potential customers, dealers and suppliers.”
DAF has already established the PACCAR Technical Center in Pune, India with its partner KPIT, a leading technology solutions company. The center currently has 25 employees and will have approximately 200 employees by December. The PACCAR Technical Centre will focus on engineering, information technology, and component sourcing for worldwide production and aftermarket operations. DAF hopes to accelerate new product development with the establishment of the technical centre.
