The Chevrolet Captiva from General Motors has a new face which has been seen in many pictures already.  It has the Beat like prominent split grille.  The vehicle is imported as a CBU into India and therefore it is logical to assume that once the inventory of the old face vehicles is over the new face will have to be introduced.  GM seems to be testing a mule and it was caught by Parag Raheja who posted it on the Facebook page of the Car and Bike Show fans.

A few days ago, Bajaj Auto had indicated its displeasure with the taxation policy of the Maharashtra government which it said was unnecessarily bleeding the company.  Following in Bajaj’s foot steps is another high profile manufacturer, Mahindra also complaining similarly about matters relating to VAT.  Mahindra has threatened that it would consider another location for its Rs. 5,000 crore investment instead of expanding its Chakan facility.  Mahindra manufactures its Scorpio and the Navistar range of trucks at the Chakan facility.  It is being speculated that Gujarat could be the favoured destination for Mahindra as well.

Mahindra has been working diligently on the sub 4 metre version of the Xylo which is being called the Mini Xylo for the want of a better way to address the said vehicle.  Test mules have been seen at various locations across India, indicating that Mahindra is testing the vehicle on all kinds of terrain and in various temperatures to ensure that the product will be reliable from the day it is launched.  However, there is no indication of when the launch will happen yet.

Indiancarsbikes.in is speculating that Toyota could be launching a diesel engined variant of the very successful Etios sedan.  Unlike other Japanese manufacturers like Suzuki and to an extent even Honda, Toyota has a range of diesel engines.  With petrol prices rising like tidal waves, the demand for diesel engined cars also has risen exponentially.  It is therefore very likely that Toyota will plonk in a diesel engine into the Etios.  The question is when?  ICB speculates that it could be as soon as September, 2011.  Is that true?  Only September can tell.
