The FIA President, Jean Todt has revealed that he considered a six race ban on Lewis Hamilton after his claim (jocularly he says and we don’t believe) that he was being penalized by the stewards because he was black. This he said after the GP of Monaco two weeks ago. The racial implication did not go too well within the Formula1 community and McLaren Team Principal Martin Whitmarsh, anticipating problems persuaded Hamilton to go to the stewards and explain (read that as apologise). It is apparently because of that Hamilton got away with what is otherwise a serious offence.
