The web space in India is agog with anticipation of the launch of the Honda small car called the Brio. The launch looks to be delayed given the fact that Honda has cut back production numbers in India owing to the non availability of critical components thanks to the tsunami that hit Japan. But Honda seems to be utilizing the extra time available for expanding its dealer network in tier II and tier III towns and cities. This indicates that Honda is interested in volumes for its Brio. Presently Honda’s smallest car in India, the Jazz sells in three digit figures while the popular City is now hit by the Volkswagen Vento. The Civic, Accord and CR-V sell in minuscule numbers and Honda needs volumes. It is therefore logical to assume that Honda will want to crunch some numbers with the Brio.
