This year in the World Superbike Championships the fight has been between Max Biaggi on the Aprilia and Carlos Checa on the Ducati. While Biaggi has had a bad start to the season and is now playing catch up, Checa has had a great start. But Checa who has a history of not going too well at Monza has finished in the 14th position in the qualifying that decides who goes into the Superpole qualifying. Checa when asked about why he has problems at Monza, simply said it is personal. Marco Melandri too complained that he was not as fast as he anticipated to be. Leon Haslam on the BMW took the top position in this qualifying.
