Autocar India has published photographs of a new Dzire based on the new Swift taken at Gurgaon.  Maruti is flexing its muscle to take on the Indigo CS, which is as yet the only sub four metre sedan.  This means that the tax cut benefits which are extended to cars under the quoted length can be taken advantage of.  Tata was smart in choosing this route to create an affordable sedan.  But Maruti’s new Dzire is bad news for the ageing IndigoCS which is built on the old Indica platform while the new Dzire will be based on the latest Swift platform.  This time around Maruti seems to have moved fast and developed the Dzire along with the new Swift so that there is no time lag in launching the model.  Very smart thinking.  Now we know why Maruti is so successful.  Will Tata retaliate with a sub four metre Manza?  We think they will.
